How to Throw a Pirate Birthday Party

Are you wondering what kind of party to throw for your little boy? Throwing a pirate party can be easy and fun for your son, brother, nephew, grandson, or any little boy in your life.
We threw one for our son last April and had so much fun that we thought we’d write a blog post about it! We live in Corona, CA and so we used a Corona jumper rental company but you can use one in whatever city you live it. Also for the party supplies look into etsy.com or amazon.
Start by picking a Saturday where you are relaxed and available to host up to 10 children in your home. Hosting a birthday party around a holiday is never a good idea because many of the children will not be able to attend the party. Once you have picked a Saturday, now it’s time to start inviting all of his favorite friends.
Talk to your child and ask him who he’d like to invite to his party. Don’t invite too many children. This could be overwhelming for him. Just invite his closest friends. Make or buy pirate invitations and mail them two weeks in advance. Make sure to include who the party is for, what day the party is, what time the party is, and where the party is being hosted. Including an RSVP is important to know how much food to make and how many favors to have. Once you have invited the guests, now you can start planning the details of his party.
The best party about a pirate party is a cool cake! Order or make a pirate cake complete with butter cream frosting and candles! Cupcakes are also popular these days because they are easy to prepare and easy to eat. Don’t forget to put his name on the cake! If you want, you can include finger foods along with your sweets. Have water and juice available for the kids because they will get thirsty from all the activity and excitement at the party.
Remember to pick out a pirate costume for your birthday boy and have a matching hat and sword for him to where to his party. You can also buy paper hats in a party pack to have his friends where too. Activities at a pirate party can include many things, but the most exciting thing you can do is rent a bounce house in the shape of a pirate ship for the afternoon of your party. The bounce house company will deliver the pirate ship to your door and make sure that is blown up before all your guests arrive. The price of the bounce house rental varies but it is reasonable. Since it’s a unique activity, it will make your party a one of a kind event. Bounce houses allow you to have an activity at your pirate party that will keep your guests entertained through out the party. Every boy at the party will want to keep jumping in the cool pirate ship!
Once everybody is ready for cake and gifts, you can round up every body out of the bounce house and start singing “Happy Birthday!” Make sure to give a favor for all your guests to take home. Your little pirate will remember his party and because he had so much fun, he’ll probably want to rent a bounce house for next years party!

5 Easy Ways to Make Your Home More Energy Efficient

Creating an energy-efficient home is as easy as can be. There’s lots of options for anyone that wants to get more out of their home and save money while doing it. Listed below are the top five suggestions for energy-efficient living.

Weatherstripping

Weatherstripping is a highly effective option for stabilizing the temperature of a home. It makes a house stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Weatherstripping needs to be inspected, tested and replaced as necessary. If it isn’t, the money spent on air conditioning and heating will fly right out the window.

Efficiency Light Bulbs

There’s a massive difference between most energy-efficient light bulbs and a traditional light bulb; the average difference is estimated to be just about 75 percent. To put that into perspective, someone with a house full of compact fluorescent light bulbs will only spend $25 for every $100 spent on traditional light bulbs. While compact fluorescent bulbs cost a little bit more than their counterpart, they’re worth every penny.

Washing Clothes with Cold Water

One of the biggest unseen costs in modern living is hot water. The difference between clothes washed in hot water and clothes washed in cool water is fairly negligible. These days, laundry detergents don’t actually need any hot water to activate. Hot water can cause more problems than it solves, and for comparison, a load washed in cool water requires only one-tenth the energy of a load washed in hot water.

Solar Power

Solar power is one of the most interesting pieces of technology in the modern world. The idea that the sun provides us with more power in a day than we have used in human history still does not make sense to the majority of the world. If it’s a sunny day out, most houses can power themselves with a set of high-quality panels. It’s absurd to think that some people are investing in the stock market for a five percent return when they could be averaging so much more with a set of solar panels. Solar panels can be bought or leased on contract, and both of them can almost completely eliminate electric bills. The technology is only getting cheaper and more accessible.

Home Automation

Home automation is fascinating. By installing a central computer system, the lighting, water, temperature, ventilation and more can be controlled from a computer, website or even a smartphone. By having a computer run a home, it can always be mathematically precise and financially efficient. It can always be overridden to the homeowner’s preference, and it will be saving money during the majority of the day. Some home automation systems even come with peaceful alarm clocks and lighting systems that gracefully transition from dim to bright as the day progresses.

How One Parent Can Travel With Kids (And Not Go Crazy)

Traveling with the family can be both exhilarating and stressful. The fun usually starts when you arrive at your destination though, especially if you are a single-parent or are otherwise traveling by yourself with kids. But it doesn’t have to be this way. You can travel with your kids and make it an exciting adventure with a little foresight and planning.

Air Travel
Arrive at the airport early if you are traveling solo with your kids. You will need time to get them prepared for security and make necessary restroom stops before boarding. Look for family restrooms where you can bring both boys and girls into the bathroom with you.

Be careful with what you are going to bring through the security checkpoint as far as liquids go. Call ahead and inquire about airline regulations regarding formula and breast milk. If you are traveling with older kids, go through security and then fill up water bottles or purchase juice at a snack stand.

Bring something to keep them occupied during the trip. Pack each child a bag with some new items or ones they haven’t seen in a while. Toss in some hand-held puzzles, coloring books and a few crayons or a new book.

Car Travel
Try to pack everything you think you might need when you are traveling by car. Sometimes there are long stretches of road and you won’t see a gas station, restaurant or store for miles. Pack a small cooler with water and juice. Pack a bag of snacks that won’t make a mess such as vanilla wafer cookies, cheese sticks, animal crackers and the like. Bring hand sanitizer, wet wipes and some plastic bags to hold trash.

If your vehicle has a DVD player, bring a variety of kid-friendly movies. If it doesn’t, try to borrow or even buy a portable one to take on your trip. Bring along some activities to keep your kids occupied such as games or coloring books. Play travel games such as I Spy with my Little Eye or the famous Punch-Buggy game (without the violence, of course). Sing-alongs are a great way to keep kids entertained so bring a CD of favorite kid songs or make up your own as you go along.

Visit restrooms together and never leave a child alone in the car while you take another one in. You may have to all crowd in a stall but if you’re traveling alone, it is better to be safe than sorry. If they can’t fit in the stall with you, position them right outside the stall door while you take of business. If your children are older, you can wait outside while they use the restroom and then they can wait together while you take your turn.

Train or Bus
If you are taking the train, some have free WIFI so think about bringing a laptop for your kids to play on. Trains and busses are less stringent with the items you can carry on so you can usually carry on snacks. Trains often have dining cars where you can purchase food and beverages.

Using a restroom on a train or bus is easier as you can stand outside the door while your child is inside and watch the other children who can remain seated.

The Author is a single mom who has lots of experience traveling solo. She is currently on the lookout for a great hotel in Everett WA for teens.

Does debt consolidation affect my credit rating?

Debt consolidation is an increasingly popular service which aims to help consumers become debt free.

Its popularity lies in its approach to debt, where all existing loans are consolidated (or brought together) to form one larger loan or repayment. This is then paid back per month, versus paying off several loans at once.

This makes debt management easier for a consumer, and debt consolidation is also a way of displaying to lenders that you are doing everything you can to pay off debt.

But does debt consolidation affect your credit rating?

To use the obvious answer, yes and no.

As with all financial products taken out there will always be a risk that you can affect your credit rating negatively.

Whether debt consolidation affects your credit rating negatively will depend on how well you manage your debt and the type of consolidation taken out. Let’s take a look at the common types of consolidation:

Consolidation loans

Consolidation loans are a popular financial product at the moment. Just like any other loan, you will not negatively affect your credit rating as long as repayments are made on time and you manage your debt properly. If you can afford to repay a consolidation loan this can be a very good method of becoming debt free.

Balance transfer credit card

This is another popular – and increasingly common – type of debt consolidation for those who are making regular repayments and managing debt well. This type of consolidation service, if taken out and managed effectively, will not negatively affect your credit rating. Simply, this financial product involves moving unsecured debt to a 0% interest credit card.

Debt management plans

This is the only real type of debt consolidation that will affect your credit rating if taken out. A debt management plan is for people who can simply not afford to pay back their debts in total every month. It works by making your repayments smaller and easier to manage. However, it can affect your credit rating for 6 years, or as long as it takes to pay off the total debt at the lower repayment amount.

If you have read through this article, you may have picked up on our main theme:

Debt consolidation will not affect your credit history so long as regular repayments are made and on time. As long you manage your debt effectively, debt consolidation is a good method to becoming debt free.

Everything you wanted to know about bulk bags, but were afraid to ask

Bulk bags, as the name suggests, are used to transport raw materials in bulk. Typically manufactured from a polypropylene fabric, bulk bags are very strong and come in a variety of different configurations. The type of bag and the associated cost and available options will vary depending upon the material being moved, and the method of transport.

Baffle bags, also known as “Q bags” are a bag designed with internal baffles to ensure that the contents flow into the corners of the bag and end up more evenly distributed rather than gathering in lumps around seams, etc. To further avoid problems with sticky or fine materials becoming stuck in the bag, full base discharge bags allow the entire bottom of the bag to open so the contents can be safely and completely removed from the bag when required.

For transportation of dangerous substances, there are UN guidelines set out for the approval of bags. Three UN approval categories ranging from low-risk to high-risk substances have been set, and various specifications about the design and size of the bag have been made. You can easily check that a bulk bag has been UN approved by checking for the special “UN” mark which also contains coded information about the bag maker, it’s date of manufacture, maximum load and other characteristics.

Conductive or anti-static bags are used to provide safe transportation of electrically sensitive materials, and in particular to avoid any electrical sparks that could cause a fire or explosion when a combustible product is being transported.

Bulk bags aren’t just for carrying dry materials. With the addition of a liner, liquids can also be easily carried this way. Additionally, various specialist single application bags, like net bags designed for the transportation of firewood logs, or vented bags for the transportation of vegetables exist.

Why You Should Consider Digital Marketing for Your Business

Aside from traditional marketing, businesses nowadays are resorting to digital marketing to promote their products and services on the Internet. Various strategies are used to make this successful including search engine optimisation, pay-per-click and the use of social media sites. A business website is also vital as this is where the clients go to learn more about the company and what it offers.

Benefits of Digital Marketing

Whether you’re just starting your own business or you’ve had one for some time but still haven’t tried digital marketing, it may be time to consider this option. There are several benefits that you can get from this including the following.

  • This is less expensive than traditional marketing.

  • News and information about your business is instantly available to people.

  • Results are easier to monitor and analyse.

  • More convenient to manage.

  • Connect to your target audience easily.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

Marketing digital strategies include SEO, pay-per-click and social media marketing

One method to consider with digital marketing is the use of SEO or search engine optimisation. As mentioned, having your own website is important as this is where your potential clients will go to on the Internet to learn about your products or services, make inquiries, purchase and leave feedback. However, if people don’t know about your site, it will not serve its purpose.

SEO will make your website more visible to users by improving your rankings on search engines. Search engines are often used by people to search information on the web. Once a search is done, sites with content matching the keyword searched will be included on the search result. Effective SEO will place your site on top of search engine rankings so more people will know about your site. And since you are on the first page, they are more likely to visit your website. This gives you the opportunity to turn these leads into sales.

Pay-Per-Click

Another method used in digital marketing is pay-per-click or PPC. This is a form of online advertisement where you will only pay for the successful clicks made by users, making it cost effective. One of the most popular PPC tools is Google AdWords. It is easy to set up and it doesn’t have a minimum cost. You can spend only the budget you are willing to spend. These advertisements appear on top of the search results, making sure that your site is on the first page, when relevant keywords are searched.

Social Media Marketing

Social media is an indispensable tool when it comes to marketing digital. The majority of Internet users access these social media sites on a daily basis. Some of these popular sites are Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube. Use this to share interesting, relevant and entertaining information that your potential clients would find worth reading. If used effectively, these sites can help build relationships with your target market and convert them into loyal clients.

There are companies online that specialise in digital marketing. They are experienced and knowledgeable in this area, ensuring that you get the results you need. You may want to consider hiring a trusted company to help market your business online.

Companies collecting articles like art pieces

Far too many companies take an attitude towards text production which is similar to the attitude of buying paintings. When there is plenty of money, one buys art from famous artists and articles from advertising agencies. In times of less money, walls are decorated with free posters and the untrained staff is told to produce the text material.
Without thinking any less of art, in the case of writing text the mistake is far more fatal. Due to bad communication in article text many resources are wasted, money as well as customers. However it’s not at all that obvious that advertising agencies would always produce quality text or that the staff would always produce bad quality text.
The common excuse is that employers don’t have enough money and resources to provide writing coaching for the staff. In my opinion, this is simply a delusional statement which couldn’t be further from the truth.
Too rarely people give thought to the consequences of badly written text, which can become very expensive in the end. For example if you want to get an important message across to multiple recipients inside the company, a misunderstanding can result in a very chaotic and problematic environment. Not only can it take hours to understand the text but it can create mistakes that take weeks to mend.
On the internet in terms of customer service it’s extremely important to have quality text that gets your message across efficiently. When half of the customer calls start with: “I tried to read your web pages but couldn’t understand..” then you might have a problem in increasing your sales with such a waste in efficiency. The Truth Blog is a great example of efficient article writing, written in one purpose in mind: To get a clear and honest message across. Such a internal blog within the company would be hugely beneficial.
Even social media is something where nowadays you have to invest a fair amount of resources to gain a good reception. The examples are limitless and many companies are full of these unfortunate stories that sadly few dare to admit to their superiors.

On the flip side of the coin, the possible achievements from a staff that is trained to constantly improve its writing skills are equally enormous. Far more efficient operation and customer service are the obvious benefits. It is good to remember that not many of us can write and communicate so fluently, the requirement is not only investment but dedication and work. That’s why it is advised to focus on this issue already in the recruitment processes.
Help to let your upper management know about this issue to make a more positive work environment!
